Xuan Sang comes from the Tien Phuoc district of Quang Nam province. He had a movement-disorder as an infant. He has short arms and legs and he is now only one meter tall and often sick. Despite his deformity, Sang has tried to study hard and has achieved much during his 12 years of schooling. His ambition is to become a professional IT engineer with a good company and then support his family.

Sang explained that, because of his restricted mobility, his mother always traveled with him to and from primary and secondary school. When he attended the Tran Phu High school, which was 10 kilometers from home, he had to board with his relatives and get help from his friends and teachers.

“I am a big fan of technology. When I scored well in the National High School Exam I have chosen to study software engineering at DTU because it suits my health condition.” he said.

Although Sang’s parents were delighted to hear that their son had been accepted at DTU, they worried that they could not afford to pay his university fees due to their financial difficulties. On August 7th, Sang went to DTU with his elder brother to complete his admission procedures and was pleasantly surprised to be granted a full scholarship. He can now dedicate himself to realizing dream of higher education. Sang immediately told his family and said: “My parents were so happy to hear the good news! I will now study hard to fulfill my ambitions.” he said.

Dreaming of Owning an e-Bike

Sang can’t afford to live in Danang, so he must board at his sister’s home in the Lien Chieu district. His sister is too busy to take him to university and pick him up every day. Sang wants to get an e-bike so that he can drive to DTU independently. “I am not healthy enough to ride a bicycle but know how to ride an e-bike. I really want one but wouldn’t dare ask my parents. They have done so much for me already and I don’t want to ask for more.” said Sang.
