3D Reality Modeling Technology of the Human body wins the "Tri Thuc Tre Vi Giao Duc" Award

On November 14th, the HCMC Communist Youth Union awarded the "Tri Thuc Tre Vi Giao Duc" prize to sixteen outstanding educational projects, including the 3D modeling of the skeleton, muscles and the nervous and digestive systems, which has proved invaluable in teaching Health Sciences to nurses at Duy Tan University and impressed the judges with its practicality.
Winning project developers receive awards of 100 million dong

Three awards of 100 million vnd each were given to three projects: “Introducing 3D Reality Modeling in Education and Research in Health Sciences”, to DTU lecturers Le Van Chung, Trinh Hiep Hoa, Le Khac Trieu Hung, Nguyen Minh Duc and Nguyen Luong Tho; “The Necessity of Sex Education in High School”, to Le Thi Be Nhung of the Phan Ngoc Tong High school in Ben Tre province; and “Manufacturing Experimental Electromagnetic Induction Devices for Physics Education”, to Nguyen Quoc Huy from the Hanoi University of Education.

Mr. Le Van Chung, leader of the DTU team, said: “Surgical teaching requires many supporting materials, such as body parts, bones, organ specimens, models and photos, which are all very expensive, so laboratories are always overwhelmed with requirements. Using 3D modeling technology however enables Health Science students to observe all details of the body visually and clearly.
Our team faced some difficulties. We needed assistance from the professors at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Fortunately, they were interested and were happy to critique our project and approve its application in teaching."

The team will develop models of virtual patients, simulate common diseases and conduct virtual endoscopy and surgery on a virtual body. Students will experiment interactively before interning at hospitals.

Professor Van Nhu Cuong, Headmaster of the Luong The Vinh High School in Hanoi noted that the DTU project was very interesting and could also be applied in the teaching of Biology in high schools.
