Phan Minh Tien and Hoang Ngoc Truong win second prize

The 2015 Loa Thanh Tournament was attended by 23 universities nationwide, who presented 173 graduate-level Construction and Architecture projects. Successful in previous tournaments, with a first award prize for Dang Xuan Nam in the 2010 Loa Thanh Tournament, DTU continued to strengthen its position this year when it overtook other universities in the region, including Danang University of Technology, the Danang University of Architecture, Hue University and others.

With “The Danang Sun Plaza Complex” project, Phan Minh Tien and Hoang Ngoc Truong demonstrated their creativity in proposing construction models matching the requirements. They solved complex problems involving construction materials and developing complex software to automatically design large, new, long-term building projects in Danang.

Phan Minh Tien said: “Partnering with California Fullerton University in Fullerton and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (CSU), leading public universities in Construction and Architecture on the West Coast, DTU has developed the very first international standard academic programs in Architecture and Civil Engineering in Vietnam. The university has broadened opportunities for its students to learn the latest industry techniques. Over the years, we have won several awards, including first prize at the Asia-Pacific Regional IDEERS Champions Cup, held at the 2014 IDEERS Convention, at the National Centre for Research on Earthquake Engineering in Taiwan, as well as others in previous Loa Thanh Tournaments. We are committed to achieving even more in the future.”

On graduation, Phan Minh Tien was offered a job as a Design Engineer at the RFR Company in Ho Chi Minh City. Hoang Ngoc Truong started working as a Construction Method Planning Engineer for CSCEC International Construction and Engineering in Malaysia, confirming the high quality of students graduating in Civil Engineering and Architecture at DTU over the past few years.
